I know there is 18 degrees of valve overlap in the stock setup, and aftermarket cams add to that by a respectable bit - there is actually quite a bit of overlap and it wouldn't suprise me if this is excessive at lower RPMs. Maybe you could offer up an educated guess as to why Dee's car had a very notable decrease in bottom end torque when the cats were punched out? At least, it would make me feel a little better about what you are doing...
